The first Saturday of May each year is "Mug Race Weekend".  Yachters gather together here in Palatka and spend the day sailing up to Jacksonville.  'Course, since the river flows north, they are actually sailing down river...

The Mug Race is very special to us, and is a spectacular event!  If you have never seen it, there is room for you along the riverfront this year.  Be sure to bring your own seating and a picnic lunch.
